Minnan/Taiwanese speaker, Japanese speaker, English speaker

I feel a sense of distance when talking with Japanese people.

They rarely respond or give feedback,so it feels a bit unfamiliar and not very close.☹️

Could someone give me some advice on how to communicate better with Japanese people?
